McHenry County ROE Excellence in Education 2026
Thursday June 18, 2026 1:30pm - 2:20pm CDT
Just like Kendrick Lamar challenges the status quo with bold honesty and rhythm, this session explores the real life remix of education where educators pour into students every day while working to keep their own cups full. In today's classrooms, students bring diverse ways of learning, behaving, and processing the world. The challenge is not simply meeting those needs. It is doing so while maintaining our own balance, boundaries, and well being.

Through relatable scenarios, reflective moments, and practical strategies, participants will explore how to truly see and serve students who are not "like us" while protecting their own rhythm and sustainability as educators. This session blends empathy, executive functioning insights, and restorative reflection to help educators reframe differences as strengths, recognize the signs of compassion fatigue, and create boundaries that support both student success and personal well being.

Participants will leave re centered, re energized, and equipped with tools to balance compassion with accountability so they can continue to lead and teach.
